Thuong Kiem Communal House is also called Thuong Kiem Temple. Legend has it that the name Thuong Kiem was given by Mr. Nguyen Cong Tru, meaning "loving to save" because when he came to accept the hamlet, the gift was only one areca chamber. The temple worships Trieu Quang Phuc and recruits Nguyen Gia Mieu.

The communal house is currently in hamlet 3, Thuong Kiem commune, 2km from Phat Diem town, Kim Son district capital, 30km south of Ninh Binh city.

The communal house was built in 1839. The communal house is located on a plot of nearly one acre of land in the North on the banks of the Vac River, facing South. The communal house has 4 buildings, and the outside and inside architecture is in the style of Han characters (二 and 丁). In front of the communal house, there is a large lake where water gathers, symbolizing Da Trach lagoon of Trieu Quang Phuc. Thuong Kiem is a Nguyen dynasty communal house with large architecture, and beautiful sculptures, imbued with the ethnic style of the Kim Son coastal region. 

The communal house still retains many precious artifacts such as 2 stone steles carved in 1896 and 1910; statues, altars, bronze bowls, palanquins, 8 conferments of the Nguyen Dynasty. 

The 14th and 15th of the first lunar month and the festival commemorating the death of Trieu Viet Vuong on the 14th and 15th of the 8th lunar month with many activities such as the procession of gods, sacrifices to gods, singing such as cheo, ca tru, Chinese chess, climbing corn bridges, swimming, cockfighting….. which take place very excitingly.

With unique historical and artistic values, Thuong Kiem communal house was ranked as a national historical and cultural relic in 2001.
