Nhu Do Temple is currently located in hamlet 1, Nhu Hoa commune, Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province. Nhu Do Temple is a place of worship and commemoration of the Tutelary God of Huong Mai village - Dai Vuong Tran Nguyen Nhan, a general in folk legend who was instrumental in defeating foreign invaders and protecting the country during the Tran Dynasty. The relic is also a place to worship and commemorate Mr. Chieu Doan Du along with the original graves, second graves, and new graves that reclaimed the sea and established Nhu Do hamlet (now hamlets 1, 2, 3 of Nhu Hoa commune).

Nhu Do Temple was built right after Nhu Do hamlet was established in 1829. Initially, it was built near the horizontal line, the northernmost point of Nhu Do hamlet, 400m north of the current location, adjacent to the hamlet's cemetery, on a small scale, in the year Quy Suu of King Tu Duc's reign (1853), Nhu Do Temple was moved to its current location.

Nhu Do Temple is located on high land, 3630 square meters wide, surrounded by rice fields and lakes. In front of the temple, there is a large lake as a clear path, creating an airy and bright relic space. Leading into the relic is a three-door style, with two floors and eight roofs, with two pillars on both sides. The main space of the garden relics, the guest house, the disarming house, the temple worshiping the Ban Tho Mandarin, the front tower, the middle hall, and the rear palace. Nhu Do Temple was built according to the original architecture “tiền nhất hậu đinh”, including 5 front halls and 3 middle halls, and the back palace running along. Gable wall architecture. In general, the monument still retains the architectural features of the ancient Nguyen Dynasty.

At Nhu Do temple, cultural activities and signals often take place such as the Nhu Do Festival is held every 3 years on the full moon day of the 2nd lunar month in the years of the Rat - Horse - Cat - Rooster. The festival includes a Ceremony Part and a Festival Part. The Ceremony is an important part of the preparation, including procession, consecration, reading of sacred history, and sacrifice. The festival's members are organized with folk games (cockfighting, Chinese chess, shrimp nest, wrestling, catching positions in the pond...) and cultural programs.

Built nearly 2 centuries ago, experiencing many historical events, floods, and natural disasters, today the relic still preserves many precious artifacts and worship items such as porcelain incense bowls and incense tubes. copper, incense, flamingo, couplets, melodies, ancient style identities….

In 2006, Nhu Do temple was ranked as a provincial cultural and historical site. By 2017, it was ranked as a national historical and cultural relic.
